I'm looking to upgrade my PC's SSD and currently have a 500GB NM610 M.2 2280 PCIe G3X4 solid state drive. I know that SSDs can be M.2 or SATA types, but I'm trying to figure out what the rest of the label means to ensure the new SSD I buy will be compatible with my system. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

The 'PCIe' you see means it's an M.2 NVMe drive, not a 2.5" SATA or M.2 SATA. Look specifically for an M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD. The 'G3X4' suggests it's PCIe 3.0 x4, so getting a Gen 3 (or newer) drive should work great!
It looks like your drive is a Lexar M.2 PCIe Gen 3 SSD. Just make sure to look for any M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD when you're upgrading. It's a good idea to check your motherboard for PCIe Gen 4 support, but even if it can't handle that, a Gen 4 SSD will work in your M.2 slot at Gen 3 speeds.
Thank you!
Just to clarify, NM610 is the model, 2280 refers to its size (22mm wide and 80mm long), and G3X4 indicates it has 4 lanes, all running at Gen 3 speeds. So, stick to those specs when choosing your new SSD!

Awesome, thank you!
