Need Advice on Choosing a New CPU for My Build

I'm looking to upgrade my PC and need help picking out a new CPU. Currently, I have a 5600x paired with 32GB of DDR4 3600 MT/s RAM and an RX 7800 XT GPU. I want to switch to DDR5 RAM (32GB, 6000 MT/s) once prices drop and I'm considering sticking with AMD for the CPU. I'm torn between the 7800X3D and the 7700X, and I want something that will last until DDR6 and AM6 come out. My main games are League, Arc Raiders, Marathon, Space Marine 2, and Darktide, but I don't do any video editing. I'm also switching my build from a Meschlicious case to a FormdT1 and will use an AXP90-X47 cooler since my GPU takes up about 2.5 slots. Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Are there specific reasons you're looking to upgrade? If your CPU is bottlenecking in newer games, that sounds like a good reason. It might be worth considering the 7800X3D since it excels in gaming performance, but if you're just playing casually and your current setup isn't too old, the 7700X could be a more budget-friendly option without sacrificing too much performance. Plus, sticking with AMD means you'll be future-proofing for upcoming upgrades! Here’s hoping DDR5 prices drop soon too!

Totally agree! If your main concern is gaming, the 7800X3D could give you that extra edge, especially in titles that lean heavily on CPU performance. But if you’re saving cash for future upgrades, the 7700X still packs a solid punch!

Considering your planned games, the 7800X3D might be overkill if you're not into heavy multitasking or content creation, but it's definitely a beast. If you're mainly gaming, the 7700X should handle everything well without the hefty price tag of the 3D variant. Plus, upgrading to DDR5 will probably give you a nice boost too!

Good point! It's all about balancing performance and budget. If you don't feel the need for high-end, stick with the 7700X and invest in RAM and maybe a better GPU down the line!
