Is there a reliable method, or perhaps a program, that can fully remove all traces of OneDrive from my system so that my files are completely safe?

The easiest solution is to just uninstall OneDrive from your system. If you're particularly worried, consider uninstalling all Microsoft products. That way, you eliminate any potential risks with your data.
I actually did uninstall it and was just fine until I got a popup about being out of storage! I think they still managed to upload some of my data.
