I've had multiple Dell laptops, and it seems like they all start to have major issues after about 5 to 6 years of use. My latest one is incredibly slow; it takes forever to open apps, switch tabs, or even click on something. It's so frustrating that I often have to shut it down within an hour because it keeps freezing. Recently, I've even encountered problems with Windows updates and had to revert back to earlier versions a couple of times. Is there anything I can do to fix these issues, or should I just get ready to buy another laptop?

Honestly, I've repaired all kinds of laptops, and it's hit or miss with quality. Some models are great, while others fall apart after a few years. It’s hard to choose a dependable brand these days. But I've kept older models, like ThinkPads, that last forever. They’re built for durability, unlike many newer ones.
Five to six years is actually a pretty decent lifespan for a laptop. Many people just don't realize that!
You might want to consider switching to a lightweight Linux distribution. They can really help with performance issues and make older hardware feel much more responsive!
That sounds interesting! But what does using a Linux distribution actually involve?
It could be a Windows-related issue as well. Check your Windows version under Settings > System > About. If it's not the 25H2 version, upgrading or reinstalling could greatly improve performance. Also, make sure to scan for malware because that can slow down your system significantly.
It is version 25H2. Is there a good free tool I can use to check for malware or clean it up if I find something?
First off, what are your laptop's specs? Knowing the RAM, processor, and storage can help us diagnose the problem better. Sometimes, just having enough memory or a stable version of Windows can make a huge difference!
Here are my specs: I have 8GB RAM (with around 7.77 usable), an Intel Core i5-1035G1, and 932GB storage with only about 200GB used. Let me know if you need more info!

Well, at least that's reassuring! I thought I was just messing something up.
