Tips for Repairing a GPU Fan Issue

My RX 580's fans have completely stopped spinning, but the GPU is still functional since my PC displays without any problems. I've attempted to manually activate the fans using Adrenaline and have run stress tests, but there's no response from them. Before I consider buying a new graphics card, I want to explore the option of repairing this one myself. Does anyone have experience disassembling GPUs or can you recommend a good tutorial for this process?

You should check YouTube for repair videos tailored to your specific card. It might help to deshroud it and attach new fans with zip ties if needed.

Try disconnecting the fans and using a 9-volt battery to see if they work. If they don’t spin up, you’ll need to replace them.

True, and if they do work, that might mean the fan header on the GPU is faulty. In that case, you can just use regular case fans connected to the motherboard.

One quick fix is to remove the existing fans and shroud, then zip tie some case fans to the GPU. It might not look elegant, but it can get the job done!

I had no idea this was an option—definitely good to keep in mind for future repairs!
