I'm thinking about getting a second monitor to complement my Acer Nitro VG271U Pbmiipx 27" WQHD setup. My PC is capable of high-intensity graphics, but I sometimes run into issues where certain settings are greyed out in games with a message saying 'your setup does not support ___.' Additionally, my monitor goes black for a few seconds when I play fullscreen games at a resolution that isn't native and does the same when I alt-tab. Overall, my current monitor is decent, but I want to know if I should replace it with a better option for gaming or if any monitor can work as a secondary display. Are there specific types of monitors designed to be used as secondary screens, or is it just a matter of personal choice?

You can use practically any monitor as a second display; just make sure to set the one you want as the main monitor in Windows.
Your GPU just needs to be able to output to another monitor. I've got a generic 27-inch 1080p screen I grabbed on sale, and it works fine as my second!
There's no such thing as a monitor that's strictly for primary or secondary use. You can use any monitor, but the black screen issue when switching games is normal for fullscreen modes. Switching to Borderless Window mode usually solves that problem.
Any monitor will work as a second if your GPU supports it. Just keep in mind that fullscreen games might introduce some quirks in multi-monitor setups.
