Struggling with Wi-Fi Speed on My New PC – Help Needed!

I recently set up a new PC that has built-in Wi-Fi with dual antennas from an ASRock motherboard, and I also have a USB dongle antenna. However, I'm experiencing really slow speeds, averaging between 10 and 100 Kbps for both sending and receiving data. My home uses a Google mesh network that was set up by my family, and there's one unit placed right outside my door. Unfortunately, it seems to be too far from other units to boost the signal effectively. I can't afford to buy a new router or run a long Ethernet cable to the router. I'm considering options like a Wi-Fi extender or something similar. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like your issue may actually stem from the distance to the router rather than the PC itself. Since it's located on the other side of the house, the signal might be too weak. Have you thought about using Powerline Ethernet adapters? They can transmit the internet signal through your home's electrical wiring, which can be a huge help in this kind of situation! Just keep in mind you need both ends on the same electrical circuit for it to work properly.

Have you checked if the external antennas are properly connected to your motherboard? Sometimes, running an Ethernet cable to an extender can improve the situation significantly, as some extenders support that. Just a thought!

Yeah, I made sure to screw the antennas in correctly, so that's all good.

If your Wi-Fi is typically slow, it might not just be your new PC. You could try removing the USB dongle to see if that helps, though I understand you already tried that with no change.

Yep, I just removed it and restarted my PC, but it didn’t do anything.

Consider trying both Powerline Ethernet and MoCA options. They could provide a more stable connection without needing to lay down long cables.
