Hey, I'm looking for some advice about getting my MacBook's Activation Lock removed. I bought my MacBook in April 2022 from an Apple Store, but now I'm locked out. I don't have the original receipt anymore, but I'm wondering if I can go back to that same store and have them check their records to prove I'm the original owner.
A few things I need to know:
1. Does Apple still have access to purchase records from April 2022?
2. Can they use that record to remove the Activation Lock on the spot, or is there a longer process involved?
3. Will this be something a Genius Bar appointment can fix immediately, or will they just direct me to online support?
Has anyone been through this or know how it works?

Yes, Apple does have records that go back that far, so they should be able to pull up your purchase history. Generally, even though they might suggest you use the activation lock self-service portal first, a manager can make an exception if needed. Just be prepared for that step as part of the process.
If they do have you try the self-portal first, it usually doesn’t take too long to get a response. Just keep in mind they might ask you to do that before helping out directly. Make sure to explain your tight exam schedule; they might be more accommodating in that case.
