I noticed that some of my older photo posts now have automatically generated image descriptions, similar to accessibility alt text that explains what appears in the picture. Disabling the related AI feature on my account apparently doesn't remove it from individual posts. Is there a way to stop these automatic descriptions from being created, or to replace them with descriptions I write myself?

There doesn’t appear to be a single setting that guarantees these descriptions will never be generated. You may need to check the accessibility or AI settings and then edit the alternative text separately on each post. The platform’s terms also give it broad permission to process uploaded content, so opting out may be limited.
If controlling how your images are processed is essential, the strongest option is to avoid uploading them to that service or remove existing posts and accounts. Tools intended to interfere with image analysis, such as data-poisoning methods, aren’t a dependable solution and may not stop accessibility descriptions from being created.
The practical option is to add your own alternative text or image description when creating or editing a post. That lets you control what the accessibility description says, although it may not completely prevent the service from generating internal descriptions.
That’s the kind of description I’m seeing—an automatic, literal explanation of what’s in the image, rather than a caption I wrote. I’ll try adding my own alt text on future posts.
