Is Fedora KDE Plasma beginner-friendly, or should I try another KDE option?

I'm excited to move away from Windows and want to use the KDE Plasma desktop on my ThinkPad. I've heard Fedora offers a great KDE experience, but I've also been warned that Fedora KDE may not be the easiest choice for someone new to Linux. Should I jump straight into Fedora with KDE Plasma, or would another distribution provide a more beginner-friendly way to get a KDE desktop?

openSUSE is another strong choice. Its KDE setup is polished and it’s reasonably approachable, so it may be a good alternative if you want something a little more guided.

Kubuntu is worth considering, especially for a first Linux installation. It combines KDE Plasma with Ubuntu’s hardware support and large amount of beginner-friendly documentation.

It’s worth trying directly. If Fedora KDE feels like too much, you can always install a different option later—there’s no need to get everything perfect on the first attempt.

Fedora KDE should work nicely on a ThinkPad. Before installing, boot into a live session to check that the Wi-Fi, sound, graphics, touchpad, and other hardware work properly. You can also test the desktop this way without changing your current system.
