I bought a refurbished iPhone 15 Pro yesterday, advertised with a new battery, and the battery seems to be draining faster than expected. I've noticed refurbished iPhone 14 Pro models lasting better, even though they have smaller batteries. The phone was recently updated from iOS 26 to iOS 26.6, and I've disabled Apple Intelligence and Siri because I don't plan to use them. This is my first modern iPhone, so I'm unsure whether the drain is normal after an update or whether the refurbishing company may have installed a faulty battery. What should I check to tell whether this is a software issue or a hardware problem?

It largely depends on the refurbisher and the parts they used. A manufacturer-refurbished phone should have a verified battery and other replacement parts, while third-party refurbishers can vary a lot. Since yours was specifically sold with a new battery, check Battery Health and the Battery Usage screen first. Also give it a little time after the iOS update, since background indexing and setup tasks can temporarily increase drain. If the battery health looks wrong or the phone is still draining unusually quickly after a few days, contact the seller and ask them to test or replace it.

The seller offered minimal cosmetic wear along with a new screen and battery, and the phone looks excellent. I’ll monitor the battery usage for a few days after the update to see whether the drain settles down.
