My phone's display repeatedly turns black for a few seconds at a time, sometimes less than five seconds apart. The audio continues playing, and the buttons still respond, but I can't see the screen well enough to use apps or play games. It seems to happen especially during calls. What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?

This sounds like the proximity sensor may be activating repeatedly. It’s usually near the top of the screen and can be triggered by a finger, dirt, a thick case, or a poorly fitted screen protector. Try cleaning that area and temporarily removing the case or screen protector. Restart the phone afterward and test it during a call. If it still happens with nothing covering the sensor, run the phone’s built-in hardware diagnostics or have it checked for a sensor or display fault.
I tested it during a call, and covering the top of the screen does make it happen. I’ll clean that area and check my case and screen protector.
