Should I Upgrade My RTX 3060 Ti or Wait for Prices to Drop?

I'm currently using an RTX 3060 Ti paired with an i5-12600K and a Prime B660M-A D4 motherboard. Lately, I've noticed that my gaming performance isn't meeting my expectations, especially with modern titles. I had my eye on the RTX 4070 Ti or 4070 Super, but the prices have skyrocketed beyond my budget of $700. Should I just stick with my 3060 Ti for now and wait for the 4070 Super to restock at lower prices, or is there a better option?

The 3060 Ti is still a solid card! With GPU prices being ridiculous right now, you might be better off keeping it, especially since the performance gap between the 40 and 50 series isn’t huge. You could look into upgrading your CPU to an i7 or i9, which might give you a bit of a boost without breaking the bank.

If you're gaming at 1080p, I'd stick with the 3060 Ti for now. The hassle of finding a decent price just isn't worth it right now. But if you're at 1440p, you might want to explore AMD cards like the 9070, which could be a solid upgrade.

Honestly, the 40 series GPUs aren't going to be available anytime soon. You might want to consider looking at an RTX 5070 instead. If you're feeling adventurous, check out the used market too! People are selling their 40 series cards, and if you find a good deal, it might be worth it.

Yeah, I got my 3080 used for a steal a couple of years ago. Just make sure the seller is trustworthy; most folks take good care of their GPUs if they're selling.

Since production for older models has halted, prices are only going to stay high. If you're not facing any major performance issues currently, I'd advise just hanging tight until there's a good sale on GPUs.

The RTX 5070 is around $700 on Amazon. Stock tends to fluctuate a lot, though. Just keep an eye on it!

I've heard it's a solid improvement over the 3060 Ti. Anyone have specifics on performance?
