Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on power supply units (PSUs) for my new PC build. I've built several systems before and typically used Corsair PSUs, which have always performed well for me. However, I'm curious if there are better options out there these days. My setup includes an MSI Gaming Trio 5090, a Ryzen 9800X3D, 64GB of Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 CL32 RAM, an NZXT Kraken Elite AIO cooler, and three Samsung 980 M.2 SSDs. What PSU would you recommend to ensure my system runs safely and efficiently?

Here are some solid options I'd recommend:
* SeaSonic FOCUS GX-1000 ATX 3.0 for $140
* Corsair RM1000e (2023) for $154
* be quiet! Pure Power 12M 1000 for $165
* Super Flower Leadex III Gold UP for $170
* MSI A1000G PCIE5 for $180
* Corsair RM1000x SHIFT for $180

You should definitely go for at least a 1000W PSU. Corsair is a solid choice, but make sure to look for units that comply with ATX 3.1 and PCIE 5.1 standards. If you're not set on your CPU, consider the AM5 9800X3D for better performance. For pure gaming, the RTX 5080 might give you more bang for your buck, allowing you to save some cash for an upgrade.

Thanks for the tip! I appreciate the heads up on the CPU. I meant to type the 9800X3D, so thanks for catching that!

Just a heads up, the RTX 5090 might not be the best match for the 5800X3D. You'd likely get more out of an upgrade to AM5 and maybe look into the 5080 or 5070 Ti instead. That said, a Corsair PSU with 1000W should work just fine for your build.

Thanks for your thoughts! I meant to say 9800X3D—just a typo there!

The wattage really depends on your usage. My system needs around 250-400W for typical tasks, but it spikes to 1400W under heavy load like gaming at 5K max settings. I went with a 1600W PSU to be safe since part picker suggested 1100W for my build, and I'm really glad I did.

Wow, I didn't realize it could spike that much! Sounds like I should consider going up to at least 1600W for a similar safety margin.

The Seasonic TX1300 is really quiet and reliable. I've had a good experience with it if you're looking for something that's not only powerful but also silent.

If you're sticking with Corsair, check out the 2024 RMx series. They've got a good reputation and should suit your needs just fine.

Great! I'll take another look at those. Thanks!
