Help! My New PC Won’t Turn On at All

I just built a new PC with a 9800x3d processor, an RX9070XT GPU, 32GB of Corsair DDR5 RAM, and an 850W MSI power supply, topped off with a 120E Thermal Peerless Assassin cooler. However, it won't power on at all. When I hit the power button, there's no RGB, no sounds—just complete silence! The only response I get is a faint click if I short-circuit the motherboard, which makes me think something is at least trying to happen. I've checked that everything is connected properly for a basic startup, so I'm wondering if the issue might be a defective power supply. Any ideas or advice would be really appreciated! And yes, the power supply switch is definitely on.

First, you should try testing your power supply with a paper clip. It's pretty straightforward, and a quick search should give you some good guides on how to do it. If the PSU doesn't turn on, then it's definitely the culprit, but if it does, there's probably something else going on with your setup.

Definitely a relief to see the PSU work! Now you might want to check all your connections again and make sure everything is seated properly. Sometimes, just reseating the components can do wonders.

Thanks for the tip! I used this guide I found, and it showed me what to do. Turns out my PSU actually turned on, but now I'm worried because if it's not the PSU, I'm really not sure what the problem could be!

Let's break this down step-by-step. First, confirm the wall outlet is working—plug in something else to test it. Just because your PSU is making a sound doesn't mean it's working perfectly, so ensure it's switched on as you did. Next, double-check that all cables from the PSU are snugly connected to both the components and the PSU itself. Misaligned seating can happen, especially with CPUs and RAM, which need a little extra force sometimes. If fans aren't spinning at all, consider resetting the BIOS too, or updating it to ensure compatibility with your CPU if the motherboard is a little older. LEDs or indications on the board can help too!

Totally agree with resetting the BIOS. After checking the seating, if nothing changes, a quick reset can sometimes resolve hidden conflicts.

Good idea! I had a similar issue where the fans weren't responding, and resetting the BIOS worked wonders. Also, if you have multiple RAM sticks, try testing with just one to see if one of them might be faulty.
