I recently bought an RX 9070 for $780 AUD to replace my RX 7600 XT 16GB. I use two 240Hz 1440p monitors and have been struggling to get the performance I want from the 7600 XT. The RX 9070 XT costs about $400 AUD more, so I decided the standard 9070 offered better value. My current build has a Ryzen 7 5800X, 32GB of 3200MHz RAM, the RX 9070 16GB, about 2.5TB of SSD storage, and a 750W power supply. Was this a sensible upgrade, and should I expect a noticeable improvement at 1440p?

The RX 9070 is a particularly good fit for 1440p, especially for competitive games where you’re aiming for high refresh rates. At $780 AUD, it sounds like you got a much better value than paying another $400 for the XT model.
Yes, that’s a substantial upgrade. The RX 7600 XT is really better suited to 1080p, while the RX 9070 is a much stronger 1440p card and can even handle 4K in plenty of games. The extra 16GB on the 7600 XT doesn’t make up for its limited performance.
I didn’t realize the 7600 XT was so close to the older 6600 XT design until after upgrading from my 6600 XT. That explains a lot.
You could sell the RX 7600 XT while it still has decent resale value. Even if you pass it to a friend, it should be a useful replacement for an older card that’s starting to fail.
I’m considering selling it to a friend who’s still using my old 6600 XT, which is starting to die. That seems like a better use for it than leaving it unused.

That’s reassuring. I mainly want to get more out of my 240Hz monitors, since the 7600 XT has been holding them back.
