Best Upgrade for Old PC to Play Clair Obscure: Expedition 33?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my old PC to play Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 more efficiently. Here's what I have: an Intel Core i5-6500 CPU, ASRock H170M-ITX/ac Mini ITX motherboard, 32GB of 2133MHz RAM, and an EVGA GeForce GTX 970 GPU. I also have a Samsung 1TB Evo SSD. My PC does handle games like Elden Ring and Helldivers, but unfortunately, Clair Obscure is nearly unplayable due to extremely low FPS even on the lowest settings. I'm considering upgrading to an MSI GeForce RTX 3060 VENTUS 2X 12G OC for around 280 EUR, but I'm not sure if it would be compatible with my setup. Any advice on how to make the most efficient upgrades? Thanks!

Have you thought about just upgrading the CPU and GPU? You can find decent deals on used parts. An i7-7700k can go for about $75, and the RTX 3060 is a strong pick. Also, check out the AMD RX 6700 XT for good value!

Honestly, if you're looking to play without tons of hassle, a PS5 might be the way to go. It's more cost-effective than trying to upgrade such an old system, though prices have just gone up in Europe. A used PS5 digital edition could save you some hassle.

Swapping out GPUs is usually straightforward, so you should be fine with the RTX 3060 as long as your power supply can handle it! However, keep in mind that the game's minimum requirements suggest a CPU upgrade might be necessary too. An i7-8700k or Ryzen 5 1600X is suggested for better performance. You could consider upgrading both the CPU and GPU for a smoother experience.

I've played Clair Obscure on my rig and found the requirements a bit exaggerated. With my setup, I’m getting solid FPS. The optimization for that game seems off.

If you’re in the UK, look for budget CPUs like the i5-9400 — they’re around £20-25. Just double-check compatibility with your motherboard! But do remember that to really get a performance boost, you might need a new motherboard if you go for a significantly better CPU.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely check the prices and compatibility before making a decision.
