I have an M4 iMac, an M4 MacBook Air, and an iPhone 13 Pro. Both Macs are running macOS Sequoia 15.7.7. Handoff works reliably between the iMac and iPhone, but it has never worked on the MacBook Air. Handoff is enabled on both Macs, and I have compared the relevant settings without finding an obvious difference. I have also tried disabling the VPN on the MacBook Air, but that made no difference; the issue existed before I installed the VPN anyway. The MacBook Air also repeatedly forgets my installed Wi-Fi printer, which makes me wonder whether there could be a broader networking or system issue involved. I would prefer to remain on Sequoia rather than upgrade to Tahoe because of privacy concerns, reports of performance problems, and concerns about upgrade-related failures. What other troubleshooting steps could identify why Handoff works on the iMac but not on the MacBook Air?

Before assuming the problem is specific to Handoff, make sure the MacBook Air is fully updated within the Sequoia release. Version 15.7.7 is no longer the newest Sequoia build, and a later maintenance update may include fixes for Continuity, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or related services. Apple generally pushes updates because issues reported over time may already have been corrected. Tahoe may work well on Apple silicon and many interface changes can be adjusted to, but upgrading is ultimately your choice—especially if you rely on software or plugins that could be affected. The printer problem may be separate, although both issues could point to a system or network configuration problem on the Air.
