I'm thinking about getting a Chromebook which runs on Chrome OS, but I want to know if I would be able to play some of my older games that I have on CD. What sort of issues might I run into with compatibility and running those games on a Chromebook?

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend getting a Chromebook if your plan is to play older games. Chromebooks are mainly designed for web apps and Google Play Store applications, so they don't support traditional software like games that run from a CD. Chances are, you won't be able to run those games at all.
