I'm putting together my first desktop PC with a maximum budget of about £3,500, although the current parts list is around £3,100. I'm buying in the UK and want the system mainly for gaming and multitasking. I may also reuse some storage and other components from my laptop. The build currently includes a Ryzen 9 7900X, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE cooler, Asus TUF Gaming B650-E WiFi motherboard, 64GB of DDR5-6000 CL30 memory, a 2TB Crucial T500 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, an RTX 5070 Ti, Phanteks XT Pro case, 1050W Montech Century II power supply, and four 140mm be quiet! Silent Wings 4 fans. Does this look balanced and compatible? Are there any bottlenecks, unnecessary parts, or better alternatives I should consider?

The listed parts appear broadly sensible together, and a 1050W power supply gives you plenty of headroom for an RTX 5070 Ti. The main thing to reconsider is value rather than basic compatibility: compare the price of the 7900X against a newer gaming-oriented X3D processor, and make sure the case has a sensible front-to-back airflow layout with the extra fans.
Before deciding whether 64GB of memory and a 12-core processor are necessary, it would help to identify the multitasking programs you plan to use. For gaming alongside browsers, voice chat, streaming, and office applications, 32GB is often enough. Keep 64GB if you use virtual machines, large creative projects, development tools, or other memory-heavy software.
The Ryzen 9 7900X is a somewhat unusual choice for a gaming-focused build. If gaming is the priority, an X3D processor would usually be a better fit because its extra 3D V-Cache can improve performance in many games. You probably don’t need to spend the entire remaining budget, though—the current graphics card is already a strong option. The 7900X makes more sense if your multitasking includes heavily threaded work such as rendering or code compilation.

An X3D chip would be a worthwhile change for gaming, but there’s no need to force another £1,000 of upgrades. Core count matters much less for normal gaming and everyday multitasking than it does for workloads like rendering or compiling.
