Why does my iPhone alarm ring for only a second and then stop?

I'm using an iPhone 16 Plus running iOS 26.6.1. My alarms sometimes start ringing for about one second and then stop by themselves, even though the phone is sitting on a table and I'm not touching or looking at it. This has happened with both evening and morning alarms, and it has been occurring randomly for several months. I've already checked the alarm volume and sound, reviewed attention-related settings, and restarted the phone, but the problem continues. What else can I try, and should I contact Apple for support or a warranty evaluation?

Since the usual settings and restart checks haven’t fixed it, contact Apple Support and explain that the alarm stops without interaction. They can run diagnostics and determine whether it’s a software problem or a hardware fault. If the phone is still covered, ask whether it qualifies for service or a warranty inspection.

Try documenting each occurrence with the alarm time, iOS version, and any settings that might matter. If possible, record the phone from another device while the alarm is scheduled, since intermittent problems can be difficult for support to reproduce.
