I currently use an Xbox Series X with a 65-inch LG G5 4K 165Hz WOLED TV. I want to build my first gaming PC mainly for single-player games and get better use out of the display. I'll continue playing most multiplayer games on Xbox because I'm more comfortable using a controller there.
My ideal target is 4K with high refresh rates, preferably 120Hz or more when possible. I understand that demanding AAA games may need 1440p upscaling to 4K with DLSS or FSR rather than native 4K at 120Hz. My budget is approximately €2,000, and I'm comparing the RTX 5070 Ti with the RX 9070 XT. DLSS appears to offer better image quality than FSR in many games, which makes Nvidia appealing.
Would the RTX 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT be the better choice for this setup? I can also find an RTX 5080 for roughly €1,350–€1,400, compared with about €1,150 for the 5070 Ti. Is the extra €200–€250 worthwhile? Since this is my first PC build, I'd also appreciate advice on where to prioritize the budget and whether a balanced build with a high-end gaming CPU is realistic under €2,000.

For your display and single-player focus, Nvidia has some meaningful advantages. DLSS is generally the stronger upscaler, and features such as ray tracing, path tracing, and the broader software ecosystem can matter in visually demanding games. The RTX 5070 Ti should still be a strong 4K-upscaling card, while the RTX 5080 would be the better fit if you can really get it for only about €200 more. At that price difference, I’d lean toward the 5080, provided the rest of the build doesn’t have to be compromised.
The RX 9070 XT is very compelling for straightforward gaming performance and may offer the best value, especially if it costs noticeably less than the Nvidia cards. FSR has improved, although DLSS is still usually preferred for image quality and consistency. Nvidia also makes more sense if you care about ray tracing, path tracing, or CUDA-related applications. With careful part selection, a build using a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an RTX 5070 Ti can fit below €2,000, including new components.
