Hey folks, I've been using a fresh install of Debian 12 for a couple of days now and everything was going smoothly until today. I booted my PC and it won't get past GRUB, leaving me with a total black screen. I can use the 'nomodeset' option at GRUB, but it only lets me boot in a super low resolution of 800x600. I've tried a ton of fixes like reinstalling my drivers and display manager, but nothing seems to work—I even wiped and reinstalled Debian, but still got the black screen. I attempted to install Fedora and Ubuntu too, but they both got stuck at GRUB as well. My setup is a Gigabyte MSI B450 DS3H WiFi with a Ryzen 5 5500GT integrated graphics. I'm lost and super frustrated; I've been messing around with this for 8 hours and just want to get back to using Linux without going back to Windows. Any ideas?

It’s strange that you faced this issue after it was working perfectly! A lot of the time, these problems come down to driver issues. Trying a different kernel version might help. If the system updated to a newer kernel that caused this, rolling back could fix it. You can install an older kernel from the GRUB menu if available.
Oh man, if you’re using 'nomodeset' and it’s stuck on that resolution, I’d recommend looking into graphics drivers specifically for your integrated GPU. You might be missing the necessary drivers. There’s a good chance that reinstalling those or grabbing them from the AMD repository could sort things out!
Yeah, I had no idea that I might need additional drivers after installation. I’ll check out the AMD repo as you suggested.
Sounds like a frustrating experience! Have you checked whether your BIOS settings are correctly configured for your motherboard's graphics? Sometimes the onboard graphics need to be enabled or set as primary. Also, make sure your cables are securely connected; a loose connection can lead to these black screen issues too. Good luck!
I've checked the BIOS a couple of times, everything seems good there. I completely re-cabled everything and still no luck.
That’s interesting. I didn’t think about kernel updates affecting the boot. I’ll give rolling back a shot!
