I'm currently using a gaming computer that's been slowing down lately, and I think it's time for an upgrade. I'm considering whether I should buy a pre-built PC or try building one myself. My budget is between $1600 and $2000, and I want something that can handle games on max settings while multitasking smoothly. Is that feasible with my budget?

If you're comfortable with it, building your own PC will generally give you better value for your money. However, I have to warn you that right now, trying to find a GPU is a real pain due to stock shortages and inflated prices. It could be worth considering a pre-built PC just to avoid the headache of sourcing a graphics card yourself. Additionally, keep in mind that running games at max settings can vary based on the game title, resolution, and frame rate. With your budget, aiming for 1440p gaming would be realistic, and you could look at components like the 7800x3d or the 9800x3d along with an rx 9700 xt.

Have you thought about whether you'll enjoy the process of building a PC? If learning and assembling in your free time sounds fun, that might be a great path for you! If you're unsure about where to start, there are tons of resources and tutorials online that can guide you through the process. Plus, it gives you complete control over what goes into your system, which is a big plus!

I've always wanted to build my own PC, but I’m just a bit lost on where to begin.
