Why is my laptop battery stuck at 78%?

Hey everyone, I'm having a bit of an issue with my Yoga 7 16iRl8 laptop running Windows 11. My original charger stopped working, so I started using a different one that seemed fine at first. However, now the battery won't go beyond 78%. This is really concerning since I rely on my laptop for school. Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do to fix it?

Check if your laptop is in battery saver mode. If it is, it usually restricts charging to around 80% to extend battery life. You can change this setting to allow it to charge fully.

It sounds like your BIOS might be configured to limit the charging. Sometimes, there's a setting that prevents your battery from charging past a certain percentage for battery health. I'd recommend checking your BIOS settings to see if that's the case.

Yeah, I was just about to say that! Updating the BIOS might help too.

If you have Lenovo Vantage installed, check there as well. There's an option that limits the charge to 80%. It's actually better for battery longevity, but if you really need the extra capacity, you might want to adjust that setting.

I had a similar issue with my old laptop. I just removed the battery and then reinserted it, and it fixed the problem for me. It might be worth giving that a shot!

You might need to check your battery health. There's a guide on how to run a battery health check for Windows 11. Once you've checked it, consider uploading the report to catbox.moe for further analysis.
