My 13-inch MacBook Pro is more than 10 years old and has suddenly stopped powering on. Is the Apple Store or a certified repair shop likely to be able to bring it back to life? I'm especially concerned about recovering some projects and a collection of MP3s stored on it.

If the files are the priority, tell the repair shop that before authorizing any work. They may be able to remove the internal drive or access its data even if repairing the laptop itself isn’t practical. Avoid repeatedly trying to power it on if there’s any sign of liquid damage or a failing battery.
Apple generally no longer provides hardware service for Macs that old. Once a model is considered obsolete, replacement parts and official repairs are usually unavailable. An independent Mac repair specialist may still be able to diagnose the power issue, but success depends on whether the problem is something simple like the charger, battery, or power circuitry.
I mainly want to recover some projects and a bunch of MP3s that were stored on it.
