I already own an RTX 5080 Founders Edition, but I'm not thrilled with its cooler and boost behavior compared with higher-end partner cards. Under full load, it reaches around 70°C and the fans get surprisingly loud, almost like a jet. I also pay attention to FPS, run benchmarks, and care about noise, so those differences matter to me. Would it make sense to trade the Founders Edition for an Astral card, or possibly a Noctua model if I find one at a good price? I'm also thinking about build quality, resale value, and whether the upgrade would hold its value better on the second-hand market.

This is mostly a luxury upgrade, not a major performance upgrade. If you can buy the higher-end card well below its original price and keep some warranty coverage for resale, the financial hit may be manageable. Otherwise, swapping cards just to gain a small amount of performance is likely an expensive way to solve a noise issue.
If you don’t care about benchmark results, tiny FPS differences, or fan noise, keeping the Founders Edition would be the sensible choice. Boost-clock numbers on the box usually don’t translate into a meaningful gaming advantage. However, since you do care about all three, a quieter premium card could be worthwhile for your personal experience rather than raw performance. Around 70°C is generally a safe temperature, but the noise level is a separate concern.
That’s the problem—I do check FPS, run synthetic tests, and notice the noise. The temperature seems fine, but the fan ramping is much louder than I expected from such a large cooler.
