Should I Upgrade from AM4 to AM5?

I've built a PC back in 2020 with a Ryzen 5 5600X but feel like I'm ready for an upgrade. I haven't kept up with all the new tech since then, so I'm a bit out of the loop. I'm curious if I should upgrade my socket to AM5 or if I should stick with my current setup. For context, I plan on upgrading my motherboard regardless, and I'm primarily looking at the used market for both CPUs and motherboards, aiming to spend around $300 total for both.

$300 is a tight budget for both a new motherboard and RAM, but if you're willing to look for used parts or buy from AliExpress, you could snag a 7500F, 7600, or 7600X along with a cheap B650 motherboard and some decent DDR5 RAM.

If you can stretch your budget a bit, there's a great deal on a Ryzen 5 9600X with a B650 motherboard and 32GB of DDR5 RAM for under $400. Just something to consider if you're okay with a slight increase in budget!

What exactly are you planning to use your PC for? You didn’t mention if you’re into gaming or what graphics card you currently have, which could influence your choice.

Honestly, you'd get more value if you just sell your current 5600X setup and start fresh. AM4 upgrades aren’t offering great performance for the price anymore.
