I'm currently in Italy and will be traveling to the United States in October. I'd like to pre-order the Apple Duo and collect it from a US Apple Store when I arrive. Can I place the order from Italy and select US in-store pickup, and has anyone successfully done this?

Yes, you can place the order through Apple’s US online store while you’re still in Italy and choose in-store pickup at a participating US location. Make sure you use the US store rather than the Italian storefront.
You can’t place the order through the Italian store and then collect it in the US. However, you can order from the US website while abroad and select a US store for pickup. Keep in mind that warranty coverage may differ between countries, and a device purchased in the US may not include the same two-year consumer protection that applies in the EU.
