Bluetooth Disappears After My Windows 11 Laptop Gets Hot

For about six months, Bluetooth on my Windows 11 laptop has been randomly failing after extended use or when the laptop gets hot. All connected devices disconnect, although Windows sometimes still shows them as connected. The Bluetooth option disappears from the quick settings panel, and Settings may still claim Bluetooth is enabled, but connection attempts immediately fail. Turning Bluetooth off can also leave the toggle greyed out. Restarting the laptop is the only reliable way to restore it, which is especially disruptive during calls or long gaming sessions. Wi-Fi continues working normally, and I have already tried resetting the device connections and several other fixes without success. What should I check or replace?

As a workaround, you could disable the internal Bluetooth device and use a small USB Bluetooth adapter. Also improve cooling if possible: clean the vents, use a cooling stand during gaming, and enable an always-on fan option in the firmware if the laptop provides one. Heat-related failures can become more frequent over time.

The fact that it happens after the laptop heats up makes a failing internal Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card possible. In many laptops those functions are on the same replaceable card, so replacing it with a model approved for that laptop may solve the problem. Check compatibility carefully because some laptops restrict which wireless cards can be installed.

Since Wi-Fi is still working, it could be a Bluetooth driver or chipset issue rather than the entire wireless card. Install the latest chipset and Bluetooth drivers from the laptop manufacturer's support page, and check whether the BIOS has any available updates. The manufacturer's hardware diagnostic tools or UEFI diagnostics may also identify a problem.
