Are These PC Parts Compatible, and Should I Use the Extra CPU Power Connector?

I'm building my first PC and would appreciate a compatibility check on this parts list: Ryzen 7 7800X3D, ASUS Prime Radeon RX 9070 XT White, Patriot Viper Elite 5 DDR5 32GB (2×16GB), Gigabyte B850 Eagle WIFI7 ICE motherboard, Samsung 990 Pro 1TB SSD, MSI MAG A850GL White power supply, Thermalright Aqua Elite 360 White V3 cooler, and a Foifkin F600 White case.

The CPU power connectors on the motherboard include an 8-pin and a 4-pin. Do I need to connect both, or is the 8-pin alone sufficient? The graphics card calls for three PCIe power cables, while the power supply appears to have only four available connections. Should I use a daisy-chained PCIe cable for the graphics card, or leave the motherboard's extra 4-pin CPU connector unplugged? I'm located in Canada and would also appreciate recommendations for reliable white DDR5 memory.

You can leave the motherboard’s additional 4-pin CPU connector empty. A single 8-pin EPS connection can provide well over 200W, while the Ryzen 7 7800X3D generally uses around 120W even under a heavy all-core workload. The extra connector is mainly useful for extreme overclocking or benchmarking.

For the graphics card, use three separate PCIe power cables if the PSU supports them. Avoid using a daisy chain for a high-power card with possible power spikes. Also double-check that the power supply’s modular ports and included cables are intended for the required CPU and PCIe connections.

The parts should generally work together, but I’d reconsider the Patriot memory before ordering. Some builders have reported reliability issues and loose RGB covers with that kit. Look for a reputable 32GB DDR5-6000 kit with AMD EXPO support from brands such as G.Skill, Corsair, Kingston, or TeamGroup, and verify that the exact kit appears on the motherboard’s memory compatibility list.

Thanks, that helps. I’m in Canada and don’t have access to a nearby Micro Center, so I’ll look for a white DDR5-6000 EXPO kit from one of those brands instead.
