I uninstalled and reinstalled Brave on Linux Mint, but it reopened with all of my previous settings and data. How can I remove the browser completely, including its configuration, cache, and other files stored in my home directory?

Uninstalling the package usually removes only the program files, not the settings stored in your home directory. Brave’s data is commonly located under ~/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/ and its cache under ~/.cache/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/. Close Brave first, then inspect those directories and remove them if you’re sure you want to erase the profile and browsing data.
You may also find Brave-related files under ~/.local/share. Search your home directory for names containing “Brave” before deleting anything. Be careful with recursive rm commands, since a typo can remove unrelated files. It’s safer to review the paths first and delete only the confirmed Brave directories.
The exact cleanup depends on how Brave was installed. Remove it using the same tool you used to install it, such as apt, Flatpak, or Snap, and then check whether that tool has an option to remove user data. Package managers generally do not delete files in your home directory automatically, which is why reinstalling restored the old profile.
