Getting Accused of Using AI for My Assignments—What Should I Do?

I've always had a strong vocabulary, likely influenced by my mom being an English teacher, and I've never used AI for my schoolwork. But since starting college this year, a couple of my professors have accused me of using AI, which I haven't! I didn't have these issues in high school, and now I'm stressed about checking my work with AI detectors before submitting. Has anyone else faced this? Any advice on how to deal with it would be greatly appreciated!

Look, I’ve been in academia long enough to notice that genuine talent can sometimes resemble AI writing. If the professors are questioning your work, consider verifying your texts with sites that can check for hidden markers left by AI. It's frustrating since good writing is getting wrongly flagged as AI-generated, but the system needs to adapt. Just keep doing your best!

That’s some solid advice! It’s tough for good writers to be caught in this mess. Definitely worth exploring those verification methods if you get in trouble.

I can see why your professors might think that based on certain patterns in writing. However, I wouldn't worry too much if you've been genuine all along. Try running your papers through AI detection tools yourself. If you're still flagged, making minor edits to your work can help. Creating a writing portfolio is a solid idea too!

It really sucks that honest students like you are being flagged because of others cheating with AI. My advice is to gather a portfolio of your best writing from high school or anywhere else before AI became popular. If you ever face serious accusations from professors, having that evidence can help your case. AI detection tools aren't infallible, and just as polygraphs aren’t seen as reliable proof, these tools shouldn't decide your academic integrity. Hang in there!
