I've been looking into the new OpenAI Codex demo, and it's a bit lengthy. They're uploading code and asking various questions, but I'm curious: does it actually write code from scratch, or is it more of a code analysis tool?

I'm also wondering how Codex compares to Cursor. Any thoughts on which is better?
I guess we’ll know more in a few days once everyone starts testing.
According to some tests, it seems that Codex can write code while understanding your existing codebase. So, it's not just analyzing; it can generate new code based on what's already there! That's pretty exciting!
That sounds great! I'm planning to tidy up my codebase and give it a shot.
I feel like this is a bit half-baked. OpenAI seems to be in a rush since Google has a strong hold on this area. Let’s see how effective it really is.
True, but I’ll test it myself this weekend. Who knows? It might surprise us!
We've been hearing about Claude Code too. Might be good to look into that!
