I recently built my PC and was a bit shocked by the CPU temperatures I'm seeing. I thought the 9600X was meant to run cooler, but during multi-core Cinebench tests, I'm hitting around 83-85°C. Is this temperature okay? Here's my setup: 9600X CPU, NZXT H7 Flow 2022 case with two 140mm intake fans and two 120mm exhaust fans, a Peerless Assassin 120 cooler, an MSI X670E Gaming Plus WIFI motherboard, and a Gigabyte 9070 XT GPU. Just as an update, I realized I had Game Boost activated in the BIOS, which ramped up the temps. After turning that off, my temps dropped to around 68°C in Prime95 Blend and slightly lower in Cinebench, but my performance scores took a hit.

Ideally, you want to keep your CPU temps below 80°C, even during stress tests. If you’re regularly going over that, it might be worth reapplying thermal paste. If the problem persists, consider upgrading or replacing your cooler.
That temp is a bit on the hot side for my taste, but it is technically within the safe limits for your CPU. It's good to keep an eye on it, especially during heavy workloads.
A couple of things to check: is your room super warm? Also, check if you accidentally enabled the 105 TDP mode in your BIOS, which can push your CPU’s power consumption up to 140-150W instead of the usual 88-90W. That might explain the temps!
Glad that helped! It turned out that I had turned on the Game Boost mode without realizing it. After disabling it, my max temps in Prime95 dropped to 80°C, and usually, it sits in the high 60s or low 70s now.
Yeah, my room was quite warm, around 25°C (80°F). I’ll definitely check for that TDP setting in the BIOS. Thanks for the heads up!
