Did I get hacked or is my computer just acting up?

Hey folks! I turned on my computer after it being off for four months and noticed it was acting really strange after connecting to my Wi-Fi. The PIN took ages to load, and it took forever to open browsers like Chrome and Microsoft Edge. I tried to log into my Gmail, and even though I had the password visible, it wouldn't let me in. Then I encountered this "type what you hear" prompt that was really bizarre—I heard some random chatter from two guys, with one saying, "give me a sec," which freaked me out. After I muted my computer, I couldn't open any apps at all. I then saw a notification from McAfee about Wi-Fi security, which only added to my worry. I checked with my dad, and he didn't find anything unusual when he looked through it. I've changed my passwords for safety, but I can't shake this paranoia. I've never experienced anything like this before, and I just got this computer for Christmas. I'm really anxious about what might have happened!

Honestly, from what you've described, it doesn't sound like you've been hacked—more likely just some software issues with your computer. It can be really slow if it hasn’t been updated in a while, and that "type what you hear" test is just an accessibility feature for screen readers, not a hack! As for the McAfee pop-up, it's pretty common and often overhyped; McAfee tends to scare people into thinking there’s a serious issue.
