Is it a bad idea to buy a used PC from a marketplace?

I'm considering buying a PC from an online marketplace and plan to ask the seller for a video to confirm that it works. However, I'm a bit worried and feel like I might be overthinking it. Are there any serious drawbacks I should be aware of? I don't know much about technology but I want to start making a pixel game or a visual novel. What kind of storage should I look for roughly and is it too risky to buy used?

I actually recommend being cautious with used electronics. They can have intermittent problems which might only show up after you get them home. If you can handle a bit of risk and the price is right, just keep in mind that new devices usually come with a warranty if you want peace of mind.

Haha, true! Just don’t think the seller will help you if things go south—once they have your cash, it’s unlikely they'll give you tech support!

Honestly, if the specs look good and the price is right, I wouldn’t hesitate. You can save a lot compared to new PCs. Just remember to keep your data backed up in case something does go wrong. The risks are likely small if you pick wisely!

When buying used electronics, especially computers, you can run into hidden issues that don’t show up during a quick test. If they have a GPU, try running stress tests like Prime95 and FurMark for about 15 minutes to check stability. That should give you a better idea of what you're dealing with.
