Can I Upgrade My I5-9400F to Improve Performance?

I recently upgraded to a 4060 GPU, but it's not performing well because I think my I5-9400F CPU might be on its last legs. I've noticed a significant decline in performance lately, and I'm starting to suspect the CPU is the culprit. What are my options for upgrading?

For a solid upgrade, you’re probably looking at needing a new motherboard and RAM, which could set you back around $400 to $500. Just a heads up, even then, your gaming experience may only see a noticeable boost in esports titles, rather than AAA games.

The best CPU you could put in your current setup is the i9-9900K, but even then, it's not going to give you a massive boost. Honestly, you're better off looking to replace both your CPU and motherboard, possibly even your RAM if you're aiming for a significant upgrade. Do you have a budget in mind?

My RAM is 32GB, so I think I'm good there. As for budget, I'm looking at around $300 to $400.

Have you checked if it’s really the CPU or maybe just a dusty cooler? You might be able to upgrade to an i7-8700 with your current motherboard. But if the CPU upgrade is over $125, I'd suggest replacing the motherboard and CPU altogether.

If I go for a new motherboard, how much should I expect to spend?
