Hey everyone! I'm a ChatGPT Plus user and I've encountered something that's bothering me, but I don't see much discussion on it. A few weeks back, I got soft-flagged for volatility, probably due to some correction loops or escalating my tone. I followed the instructions to the letter — went through 5 recovery days and 2 reentry days, and was finally cleared on May 17.
However, even after that date, I'm still experiencing fallback responses, shallow reasoning, and tool suppression whenever I try to ask structured questions or restate things. Commands like 'manual mode only' seem to be ignored, and fallback logic kicks in even when I'm neutral. It feels like I'm still under some form of monitoring, even though I'm no longer flagged.
I reached out to support, but they haven't replied to my escalated message in over a week. I've followed all the protocols and I'm still not able to access the full capabilities of the tool.
**Has anyone had this post-recovery 'ghost volatility' thing happen? Does it eventually resolve on its own, or does support need to manually reset your account?**

This is definitely a known issue. Some users have experienced something like what you describe post-clearance. They don't always make it clear when another watch period kicks in. It seems like it depends a lot on your interactions afterward. Support can take a while to respond, unfortunately. Hang in there!
I think you're right to ask about this. I’ve heard stories about a ‘volatility mode’ that can affect access. It’s frustrating that they don’t clearly inform users about it or how to avoid it. If your tone changes even a bit, it seems to kick back in. I hope support reaches out soon, because that’s a really rough spot to be in.
Exactly! It feels so ambiguous. Like, what even triggers it? Let's hope for clarity soon.
It sounds like you're definitely not alone in this weird state! I haven't experienced it myself, but I've heard from others that they felt like they were still being monitored for a time after recovery. It does seem like certain behaviors might trigger a sort of reassessment of your account, which is frustrating. Definitely keep us in the loop on what support says!
Yeah, keep us posted! It would be interesting to know if this resolves itself.
Right? I think having a clearer guideline on this would be great.
