I'm planning to upgrade my setup from an i5-10400f to a Ryzen 9700x. I currently have a CPU cooler for the i5, but I'm wondering if I need to get a new cooler for the Ryzen. If so, what would be a good recommendation for this CPU?

Thermalright has some awesome options for coolers that won't break the bank. Their air coolers get great reviews, and if you’re open to liquid cooling, their AIOs keep my 7900x under 50°C most of the time. They offer 240 and 360 mm variants, so check those out if you're interested!
You might want to look into the Peerless Assassin 120 or the Phantom Spirit 120SE. If your current cooler is aftermarket and supports AM4/AM5 sockets, you might not need a new one. They usually come with adapters for different sockets, so check what you have first!
Definitely consider the Peerless Assassin. I've found it keeps all my CPUs below 70°C under load, so it's a solid choice!
