I've been hearing from friends that my Ryzen 3800X might be bottlenecking my system, and I'm considering an upgrade. I'm torn between getting a 5700X3D or jumping straight to AM5. Here are my specs: Ryzen 3800X, 850W PSU, 34GB RAM, and an RTX 4070 Ti. Any advice?

If you're mainly gaming, the 5700X3D is the right move. I wouldn't go for AM5 just yet. Wait for AM6 in a couple of years if you're planning on a major overhaul of your setup.
Switching from the 3800X to the 5700X3D is a massive upgrade due to the improved L3 cache. You're not really bottlenecked, but the 3800X isn't the best for gaming anymore. I made the switch and I totally recommend it if you can sell your 3800X like I did.
Just grab the 5700X3D with a good cooler and you should be set. AM5 is still relatively new and could have its own issues as it matures.
If you're gaming at 1440p or even 1080p, there might be a noticeable bottleneck with the 3800X. The 5600 could also work well for you, but I'd say aim for the 7600, 9600X, or the 5700X3D based on price.
If you're looking to spend less than $300, I recommend going for the 5700X3D. It offers a significant boost, and if you're considering spending over $400, maybe look into the AM5 route instead.
If you're near a Microcenter, you can score a 7600X bundle for $279.99. Often, Newegg has good deals too, so you might find bundles under $350. The 5700X3D is overpriced now, unless you get a solid used deal.
