My External Hard Drive is Swelling – What Should I Do?

Asked By TechieBear93 On

I've been using my 5TB Seagate External Hard Drive with my PlayStation for about 2 to 3 years, and I've noticed that it's starting to swell or bump from the inside. I'm really worried about possibly losing all the data on it. Should I be concerned about its functionality? Is it time for a new hard drive? Any advice or thoughts on how to handle this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You definitely want to back up that drive as soon as you can. If it's swelling, it's a sign that something's wrong. Honestly, I’d focus on getting anything crucial off it right now.

How do I back it up? Should I focus on the external or my internal drive?
