Can I Bend Copper Heatsink Pipes for My Graphics Card?

Hey everyone! I've got this old Fujitsu Esprimo C5720 with a PSU that gives me 240 watts. I've already upgraded to an Intel E8500 processor, which has a max of 65 watts, and I'm planning to add more RAM and an SSD. After all the upgrades, I'll have around 127 watts available, which should be enough for a mobile graphics card like the 9600m.

The challenge I'm facing is getting the graphics card to fit in the case and how to cool it properly. I found a heatsink and fan from an Acer Aspire 9630g, but it's tricky to mount due to the placement.

I need some advice on the copper pipes in the heatsink:
- Are they hollow?
- Can I bend them? I know sharp bends can affect heat transfer, and I'm curious if it's feasible to go ahead and do this without damaging the cooling performance. I don't have the tools to tweak them perfectly, so any DIY tips would be greatly appreciated!

Bending those copper pipes isn't really a good idea. They can lose efficiency if you create sharp bends, causing issues with heat transfer. It’s usually better to find a heatsink that fits your case without modifications. Sometimes, less is more when it comes to airflow!

What’s the reasoning behind not bending them? Is it just about the performance loss?
