Why is my RTX 5080 only getting 60–70 FPS in PEAK at 4K?

I'm playing PEAK at 4K on an RTX 5080 and usually see around 60–70 FPS. Is the card simply not powerful enough to reach 120 FPS at this resolution, or is the game likely limiting performance? My system has a Ryzen 7 3700X, 32 GB of RAM, and Windows is set to 120 Hz. Other games are reasonably playable, such as Cyberpunk at roughly 50–60 FPS with DLSS and path tracing. I'm also not sure whether PEAK supports DLSS.

Your Ryzen 7 3700X could hold back minimum FPS in some situations, but at native 4K the GPU is usually doing most of the work. The CPU’s average usage being around 30% does not completely rule out a CPU limit, since one or two individual cores can still be saturated. Look at per-core usage and GPU utilization rather than only the overall CPU percentage.

That performance is probably a combination of 4K rendering and the game’s optimization. A 5080 is very powerful, but even high-end cards cannot guarantee 120 FPS in every game at native 4K with maximum settings. The recommended GPU listed for the game is aimed at much lower settings or resolution, so it does not automatically translate into 120 FPS at 4K. Check GPU usage, temperatures, clocks, and whether the game has an FPS cap.

PEAK may simply have a performance limit or inconsistent optimization. Other games running well does not prove this one should reach the same frame rate, especially if it lacks features such as DLSS or has a heavy particular scene. If GPU usage is near 95–100%, lower resolution or graphics settings are the practical options; if usage is low, investigate an FPS cap, background software, or a game-side bottleneck.

A newer GPU generation is not a guarantee of dramatically higher frame rates in every title. Games also become more demanding over time, so newer cards often let you use higher settings or resolutions while maintaining a similar performance target. Around 60–70 FPS at 4K may be normal for this game, depending on the settings and scene.
