Hey everyone! I'm dealing with a 100% System Interrupts CPU usage issue on my PC, which means it's probably time for a hardware upgrade. Here's my current setup:
- Motherboard: H310M-K
- GPU: 1080ti
- RAM: 32GB
- CPU: i5 8400
- PSU: Corsair VS650.
I've got a budget of £1500 from Curry's that I can use to upgrade, and I'd love to save some of that for a Switch 2 if possible. Ideally, I want to stick with just upgrading my CPU and graphics card, but I'm aware my motherboard might limit my options. I play a lot of simulation games like Flight Simulator and Train Simulator with mods, and I want to run newer games like Cyberpunk as well. Any suggestions on what upgrades would work best without getting too deep into the hardware? Thanks a bunch!

Thanks for the insight! I'm not completely sure it’s the motherboard, but it boots fine, just runs incredibly slowly. I didn’t use it for a few months, and now it takes ages to do anything.
Unfortunately, you're going to need to replace the motherboard. Your current setup can only support up to a 9th gen chip at most, which is already quite outdated. Just to give you a comparison, a top-tier i7 9700k matches the performance of an 11th gen i5, so you're really behind the curve here.
I saw a deal for a prebuilt system around €1350 with a 5070, and it was in the UK! If you can find something like that, it could be a great upgrade opportunity. Selling your current rig could help make up the price for a Switch too. Just be cautious about RAM and GPU prices right now—it's a rough time for those. You might end up needing a new power supply if you upgrade both the CPU and GPU. Also, make sure your motherboard isn’t the problem—it could be causing the slowdown.
