I bought a variable-value Apple Gift Card from Walmart and loaded $20 onto it. The card was kept behind the customer service desk, so an employee handled the purchase. I have the receipt, but when I try to redeem the card, Apple says it isn't valid. Walmart has refused to refund me, and Apple's phone support only gives me an automated message. Is there a way to recover or use the money, or do I need to pursue this with Walmart?

First, check Apple’s troubleshooting steps for cards that won’t redeem. Make sure you’re entering the code correctly and that your Apple account region matches the card’s region. If the redemption screen turns gray or does nothing, that’s also worth mentioning to support.
Apple phone support may not be available around the clock. Try calling during its published support hours, or use Apple’s online support options so an agent can check whether the card was activated, already redeemed, or blocked.
If Apple confirms that the card is invalid or was never properly activated, Walmart is the business that needs to resolve the purchase. Keep the receipt and ask customer service or a manager to verify the activation and contact their gift-card support team. If you paid by credit card and Walmart refuses to help, you could ask the card issuer about disputing the charge, but provide all your documentation first.

I’m seeing something similar: after I enter the code and press submit, the button just turns gray and nothing happens.
