I'm curious about using 24GB RAM sticks since I've heard people discussing 48GB setups with 2x24GB sticks. My friend mentioned that using two 24GB sticks could put a strain on the CPU, but I can't find any reliable information to back that up. Is there any truth to this concern? Are there other potential issues with using 24GB sticks apart from the fact that they might be overkill?

I've heard the same claims about RAM straining CPUs, but like you, I've never seen anyone's computer actually break from it. I think people just talk about it without real experience. It seems pretty safe overall, and nothing catastrophic has happened to the users I know.
Using 2x24GB sticks isn't really going to put more strain on your CPU compared to a 2x16GB setup. Both configurations are typically single rank. It's actually dual rank kits like 2x32GB or 2x48GB that might be more demanding on the system.
Straining the CPU? What does that really even mean? I’ve got a setup with 2x32GB sticks and haven’t noticed any issues. Just be aware that prices have skyrocketed; I got mine for a great deal before the inflation hit hard!
