Hey everyone! I have a PC that uses NitroSense, and I noticed there's an option for "quiet occasion" that reduces fan speed. My fan tends to get really loud, and I'm curious if using this setting while playing games could potentially harm my PC. I'm worried about overheating and damaging the components. Also, are there any other methods to reduce fan noise aside from just lowering the speed? Some games make my fan really noisy, but the PC doesn't crash; it's just the noise. Thanks in advance!

Swapping out thermal paste can help with noise too, but do you know which component is the loudest when it’s running?
Lowering the fan speed shouldn’t damage your PC, as most systems can throttle performance if they get too hot. However, you might experience a performance drop if the fans aren’t keeping things cool. If you want to cut down on noise, consider looking into fans designed for quiet operation. Just be careful if you're not familiar with hardware changes!
Got it, thanks! I might check out quieter fans later, but for now, my current ones should be fine since I’m not techy.
Are you using a laptop or a desktop? If it's a laptop, expect the fans to ramp up quickly when gaming—it’s just how they work. For desktops, NitroSense manages your fan profiles, and if your case and fan setup are good, you might get away with lower speeds without overheating.
It's a desktop. How can I tell if my fan setup is good? I think I have a pre-built model.
I'm not really sure; I assumed the fans were the loudest since it's a pre-built system.
