Best Upgrade Path for 1440p Gaming: CPU, GPU, or Both?

I need some advice on upgrading my PC to play modern AAA games smoothly at 1440p ultra settings with around 60 FPS. My current setup includes an Intel Core i5-10400F CPU and an ASUS Dual RTX 3060 12GB GPU, along with 16GB of RAM and a solid 1TB NVMe SSD. I'm feeling limited with my current performance, especially at higher settings. Should I upgrade my GPU, CPU, or tackle both? Also, are there any specific parts that would complement my current build? Thanks for the help!

Straight-up go for the 9070xt! It's an excellent card for high gaming demands.

You should definitely focus on the GPU upgrade first; I'd recommend either the RTX 5070 or the RX 9070 for their performance. The 5070 is great for ray tracing, while the RX 9070 offers excellent raw performance. Your CPU might hold back some performance, but a combo with the 10400F should still hit around 60 FPS in most games.

I had a similar setup and just upgraded to a 14600K and a 9070, and it's an absolute beast now. If you're willing to change the motherboard and PSU, I’d recommend following a similar upgrade path for a significant performance boost!

Upgrading to a used RTX 4070 Super or an RX 7900 GRE would be a great first step for 1440p gaming. Those cards will definitely give your performance a boost at higher settings!

A better GPU is crucial, but also consider adding another 16GB of RAM. If you find a good deal on a used CPU, it could help too, but start with the GPU for a noticeable difference!
