I’m new to PC building and have about $800 to spend. I was considering an RTX 5060, but I’m not sure what else to buy or whether this budget can handle GTA 6 when it comes to PC. Should I build now, wait, or consider another option?
Can I build an $800 PC now and expect it to run GTA 6?

I wouldn’t choose parts today based on a game that may still be a long way off on PC. Hardware prices and the best value options could look quite different by then, and there aren’t reliable PC requirements to build around yet. If GTA 6 is the main reason for buying, waiting is the safer bet.

If you want a PC now for other games too, the RTX 5060 could be a reasonable starting point, but don’t spend the whole budget on the graphics card. Look for a capable midrange CPU, 32 GB of memory if the prices allow, an SSD, and a reputable power supply. Check local prices before settling on a full parts list, since the best combination varies a lot by region.

There’s a difference between building a solid $800 gaming PC and guaranteeing it’ll run a future PC release well. Nobody can promise the second part without confirmed requirements and performance testing. I’d aim for a good general-purpose build now, then upgrade the graphics card later if the game needs more.

That also leaves room to use the PC for games that are available now instead of buying around one unknown target.

If you don’t need a computer immediately, save the money and revisit this closer to the PC release. If you do want to play GTA 6 as soon as possible, compare the cost of a console with your PC budget. A console may be the simpler route, while a PC makes more sense if you also want it for other uses and games.

That makes sense. I was hoping to start gaming sooner, though.
